Elizabeth Hess

Elizabeth Hess is the author of two books on animals: Lost and Found: Dogs, Cats and Everyday Heroes (1998) and Nim Chimpsky: The Chimp Who Would be Human (2008), one of the only biographies of an animal and the basis for the documentary film Project Nim. She is currently writing about the American Pit Bull Terrier and about the first primate research laboratory in New York. Hess is Vice Chair of the Animal Legal Defense Fund and a member of the Advisory Board of Out of the Pits.
